Frequently Asked Questions

Are you still accepting and fulfilling orders given the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes, we are still accepting and fulfilling orders during the pandemic. If you have any specific questions or concerns, then please email us at info@appreciateart.co.uk.

Do you guarantee authenticity of the artwork you sell?

We guarantee that all artworks acquired from Appreciate Art are genuine and authentic. We conduct detailed checks on all artworks prior to buying them and pride ourselves on our diligence and market knowledge. Please refer to our Returns Policy and Terms & Conditions for further details.

What payment methods do you accept?

For items with prices listed on the site, we accept payment via all major credit cards and PayPal via our secure checkout. For all larger value items and those marked POA, we prefer payment by bank transfer or wire. Please get in contact should you wish to pay via bank transfer and we will issue you an invoice.

Do your prices include applicable taxes?

The price you see on the site is the price you pay for the work, regardless of your location (please note that shipping costs are charged based on location and will be calculated and added at checkout). As Appreciate Art deals in secondary market artwork, we do not charge VAT or any other taxes on top of this price, and as such we cannot take off the VAT for non-EU or EU-based VAT-registered customers. Please note that any import taxes or duty are the responsibility of the buyer.

Why am I being asked to provide ID when purchasing artwork from you?

From 10 January 2020, the Fifth EU Money Laundering Directive required art market professionals, including secondary market dealers like Appreciate Art, to undertake anti-money laundering checks on all buyers who acquire a work of art priced at €10,000 or more (or have acquired more than one work of art with a combined price of €10,000 or more).

We take our responsibility to comply with anti-money laundering regulations extremely seriously so we ask you to respect this and whilst we recognise that it may be a minor inconvenience, if we ask you for proof of identification and confirmation of your address, please understand that this is now a requirement placed on us by EU and UK law.

Do you ship worldwide?

All artworks are available to ship worldwide.* For all items available to be purchased directly from the website, you will be asked for your shipping address during the checkout process where a shipping quote is automatically generated to give you the total price payable. It is your responsibility to provide an accurate delivery address and advise us of any special shipping instructions at the point of sale or immediately after.

For all items marked as POA, we will provide a specific shipping quote when we issue you an invoice.

*Please Note: We are currently unable to ship items to Brazil.

Do you insure items when shipped?

All items purchased from us will be shipped at their full value. All items shipped by us will be fully trackable but we kindly ask you to notify us straight away in the event of damage or loss in transit.

What happens if my artwork arrives damaged?

In the unlikely event that an artwork you have purchased from us arrives damaged, please contact us immediately. If there is any noticeable damage to the packaging, please do not open it to inspect the artwork but contact us immediately for advice on next steps.

Under our Terms of Business, it is the Buyer's responsibility to notify us of any damage within (5) working days. If contacting us after five (5) days, I'm afraid we cannot accept responsibility for damage to an artwork as it will be difficult to prove when the damage was incurred.
